NYE Mystery here I come....

I finished up cross-cutting the rest of my clues today for the NYE Mystery and with the enlistment of hubby's help we marked 1200 squares sized 1.5" and 2.5".  All clues are ready for sewing tomorrow!

Clue #1 - 26 tan 2.5" strips & 13 WOC 2.5" strips
(see that $60.00 there? That's the cost of my daughters' Junior yearbook! eek)

Clue #2 - 400 WOC 2.5" squares & 400 green 1.5" squares

Clue #3 - 400 WOC 6.5"x2.5" rectangles & 400 brown 2.5" squares

Clue #4 - 14 WOC 2.5" strips & 7 green 2.5" strips

Clue #5 - 400 brown 2.5" squares

Tomorrow comes the sewing clues so I will be up bright and early in the morning with my coffee and my sewing machine listening to/watching Season(s) 2 & 3 of Merlin on Netflix while putting the clues together lol.  We also have a NYE party tomorrow with friends and family so at some point I will have to stop sewing :(.  Ah well, I can resume sewing on Sunday and Monday then it's back to work on Tuesday.

That is it for tonight.  I'm going to go watch Apollo 18 with the hubby.  TTFN

ohhhh my aching back

Good evening blogworld!  I am so sore and tired now lol.  I have been cutting my NYE Mystery fabric since noon today and just now got finished with the strips, yes that is 8 hours of cutting!  I still have to cross-cut some of the strips into squares but that will be for tomorrow as I am tired now.  I managed to "watch/listen" to Camelot Episode 5, Argos, Lost Episode 1, and The Lazarus Project, and currently 1/2 way through Interview with a Vampire (they are currently in Europe at the theatre for those who have seen the movie before lol).

Here I was just starting to cut into my color #3 for Clue #1...

and here is Clue #1 completed and ready for Saturday

This is part of clue #3, there are 67 2.5" strips ready to be cross-cut into 400 2.5" squares!

Here are all of the clues from #1 to #5 from left to right.

Tomorrow I have to cross-cut clues #2 (400  2.5" squares and 400 1.5" squares), #3 (400 6.5 x 2.5" rectangles and 400 2.5" squares), and #5 (400 2.5" squares) as well as draw diagonal lines across the backs of those 1200 squares, then I will be all ready for Saturday.  I'm very excited for Saturday to get here but I'm not ready for my vacation to end either LOL.  Enough cutting for today.

Those who know me know that I am an LSU Tigers fan (recent) and my hubby got me some LSU stuff for Christmas.  Here is what he did with 2 of them:

I now turn onto LSU Avenue to get to my house (see it back there? lol)

And I park in Tiger Fans Parking Only rofl. Yes, that is an LSU flag on the porch as well.

Hubby did great this year.  I love the big goofball!

Holiday Fun

Good morning blog world!  While most people have gone back to work this morning I am lucky that I was able to take the entire week after Christmas off (11 days altogether lol).  I mainly took the week off because I need to start cutting 22 yards of fabric for the NYE Quilt Mystery that my wonderful online Beginners and Beyond quilt group is hosting.  It has been 7 years since I made my first King sized mystery quilt and it's a bit tattered now (I was just learning at the time so my 1/4" seams were not quilt 1/4" rofl) so I figured it was time to make a new quilt for my King size bed.  The fabrics I'm using are:

The background is white on cream and is actually two different fabrics.  I so can't wait to get cutting!  I spent hours yesterday ironing the 22 yards and then realized that I only have 2 yards of color #3 and the instructions call for 2 1/4 yards so today I have to rush down to Jo Ann's Fabrics and grab another 1/2 yard.  I actually switched the colors 1 & 3 around since taking the photo so my color 3 is now the tan fabric.  I will update my blog each day as I get further into the clues.  Saturday is when we start the sewing and I am so excited! :)

The holidays were really good for us.  We spent time with family and friends and everyone was happy with what Santa brought.  I got a new tablet so I have been playing on that lol.  Well, enough for now.  I have to go get ready to head to Jo Ann's to grab more fabric.  Until next time!

WOW...has it been a while

Yes, I know, I have not updated my blog since September.  School and work kept me pretty busy. I ended up dropping the Java class as it was just too much for me with 3 other classes.  Fall 2011 is over finally, just waiting on my grades. I think I have 2 A's. and a B but have to wait until they are officially published.  I signed up for 4 classes for Spring 2012:

EME3402 - IET: Instructional Technology

ECO2013 - Principles of Economics Macro

BSC2311 - Intro to Oceanography/Marine Biology

EME4622 - Technology Tools: Site-based Educational Networks

Yes, I'm doing it again lol.  But one day I would like to have my degree. Anyway, I have completed another project...a table runner for Mom for Christmas:

Full table Runner

Close-up of center block; this was my first try at making my own applique flower that I pieced together and sewed it down by hand

Front and back

Closeup of quilting pattern (stitch in the ditch) and binding sewn down by hand as well

I am very proud of myself :)  I also sewed together my sister-in-law's quilt top, just need to work on getting it sandwiched, squared up, quilted & bound.  This will be for her for next Christmas:

I bought some really neat-looking chili pepper fabric for the background.  It's just a lap quilt but I hope she will like it.

I also plan on finishing up my other sister-in-law's lap quilt:

Right now it is just up on my design wall but I plan on adding 12x12 blocks of white on white fabric to make it bigger, then either purple or green for the backing.

One other project I finished was a scrappy Christmas stocking for my niece:

Yes, that is a Grace Quilter Pro in the background with a Janome machine.  Mom found it plus lots of other quilt-related items (fabric, books, mags & tons of rulers) for $800.  Quilts up to a King size!!! :) Now I just need to learn how to use it... lol

So that is all that I have managed to work on the past month, as I had time.  I am hoping to make my team at work some simple quilted coasters for Christmas.  Hopefully this coming weekend.  Well, it is time for me to get off the laptop and get myself ready for bed.  TTFN...
